The McKenna Meadows Homeowners Association’s General meeting was held on Monday, 27 April 2009, at 6:30 P.M. Board members present were President Lynn Miller, Treasurer Yvonne Starks, and Secretary Linda Killingsworth. Board members Alice Calero and Mary Nalley were also in attendance.
A total of 12 people were present, representing 8 homes.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the General Meeting of 13 January 2009 were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: None.
Old Business: G.C. Faircloth presented results of his research on speed bumps for 295th Street South. All materials for a set of 5 speed bumps can be purchased for a little under $2000.00. Labor would be provided by residents. More research on where the speed bumps will be placed and their effect on the road surface will be continued before the proposition is ready for a vote. Resident input on the subject is welcome.
Maintenance of common areas was discussed. Before anyone is hired for the position, the board will first create a job description.
The neighborhood garage sale will most likely be held the same day as the Whitewater Estate garage sale this summer. One permit should be good for the entire neighborhood.
There is still a problem with aggressive dogs running loose in the neighborhood. There have also been loose chickens roaming in the neighborhood.
Nine residents participated in the annual spring cleanup. Many thanks for their time and effort.
New Business: Due to the unease about the slow response of the Roy Police/Pierce County Sherriff to a recent break- in in the neighborhood, residents are encouraged to attend Roy City Council Meetings to voice their concerns.
It was suggested that a neighborhood watch be initiated.
There is an on-going problem about how to penalize those residents who have not paid their HOA dues. Approximately $2600.00 is still owed for 2009 dues. Over $11,000 is owed in unpaid dues since 2002. As this subject is very sensitive, nothing has been resolved, but numerous solutions have been discussed.
A motion was made and passed to fine residents $25.00 a month for uncorrected violations of HOA rules as stated in the by-laws of the McKenna Meadows Homeowners Association.
Linda Killingsworth resigned as Secretary. It is hoped out of 59 homes in the neighborhood, one resident might be willing to take over as secretary.
The next general HOA meeting will be a pot luck barbecue on Saturday, July 18th, at the cul-de-sac at 85th Avenue Court South.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
