The McKenna Meadows Homeowners Association General Membership meeting was held on Monday, August 8th, 2011. Board members present were President Lynn Miller (253) 843-4491, Treasurer Yvonne Starks (253) 843-0593, Board Member Sherrie Lee (360) 464-8025 Board Member Bill Starks (253) 843-0593.
General Meeting is a follow-up from the June meeting as requested. 4 homeowners in attendance.
Treasurers Report:
Balance in the bank after all utilities and lawn maintenance have been paid is $19,352.14
Old Business:
1). Street lights: Several of the homeowners questioned if it would be feasible to have streetlights in the neighborhood. They cited concerns for the safety of children walking to and waiting for school buses in the dark. Since the meeting, Yvonne Starks contacted Intro Light Contractors. It will cost $5,000 - $6,500 per streetlight. It was suggested that 11 lights be installed at a total cost of $44,020.00 and $50,509.00.
2). Speeding in the neighborhood: Still is a problem….All residents are reminded that the speed limit throughout the neighborhood is 20mph. There are many young children on bikes and playing near or on the streets. Homeowners are urged to take down license numbers. If we continue to have a problem, we will work with the police dept in hopes to solve this problem.
3). Grant: Yvonne spoke with our lawyer, we need a 501 C3, which will cost about $850.00, not likely we will be eligible for that…grant does not look likely.
New Business:
Lynn and Yvonne went to a workshop regarding the new Homeowner Association act regarding RCW 64.38. According to the lawyers, the Board of Directors need to update the bylaws incorporating the RCW 64.38. Lynn is hoping to have that done by the end of November. Any concerns please contact Lynn at (253) 843-4491. The Bylaws can be rewritten by the board, but the CCR’s cannot be revised without a lawyer.
Asked about dissolving the HOA, and were told that it’s pretty much impossible to do. The reserve study was explained, it is something that we really need to have done, they started it as of August 1st.

ACC Members are: Jorge Calero, Lynn Miller, Sherrie Lee and Ruth Johnson. All improvement requests should be submitted through the PO Box, that way it will be postmarked. If it is hand delivered, the 30 day rule does not apply. Any questions are to be directed to Lynn Miller. I would also like to make you aware that the Ex-president Kim has no authority as far as the Architectual approvals or disapprovals. If you are given directive from her in any manner, please contact Lynn.
Parents please make sure your kids are wearing helmets when on bikes and skateboard, it is a WA state law.
Next meeting will be January 9th at 6:60 at the Roy Library. This meeting you will be voting on officers. All positions are open except the Secretary.
